I recently paid a visit to the stunning rustic camp Antares.
I heard much of this stunning rustic bushveld camp and the wonderous eye level photographic hide found at the lodge.
It was a must-visit for me. Above all to grasp at the opportunity to provide this destination for Djumba Ngala guests. I arranged to visit the camp for the day with Ian owner of Antares.
He graciously offered me to travel with him to the camp and I accepted his kind offer. On our way to the camp, Ian entertained me with wonderful stories of the camp and its history.
I could see the love he had for his camp. As result, I could easily sense the passion he had for sharing amazing wildlife moments’ experienced at the camp.
Antares will blow you away
After a short trip of about 30min from Hoedspruit, we arrived at Antares. What a sight it was here was this stunning camp perfectly situated between granite koppies. Words or photos can’t do this truly rustic bush camp justice.
As one enters the first thing you notice is the beautiful minimalistic layout of the camp. The rooms are perfectly placed as well with the main building that houses the kitchen, dining room, reception, and lounge.
The beautiful design of the lodge is simply wonderful, As it takes one right into that amazing feel of Africa the vibe just is wild Africa with a touch of luxury. Also one could easily see the eco-friendly nature of the lodge Ian used beautiful upcycled wood and tree stumps to decorate the lodge beautifully.
As I wandered through the truly stunning rustic bush camp all the while listening to Ian’s wonderous stories of the lodge and the amazing wildlife sightings seen there. I could not stop thinking how amazing the feeling of closeness to the bushveld this place was instilled in me.
Next, as we exited the main building were the two decks overlooking Umgede hide and a pristine bushveld view. Perfect for a morning breakfast or starlit dinner. Just below the deck area was the wondrously cool-looking splash pool perfect for a tan and warm day cool down.
Antares blew me away with its amazing atmosphere and beautiful rustic layout. Ian and the Antares team had the perfect vision in turning this previous guide training camp into bushveld splendor for any would-be guest.
